Most people work an 8-hour day and there are approximately 20 to 23 work days per month. Assuming no holidays, this would be between 160 and 184 work hours per month. Even with holidays, most employers pay the employee for the holiday either straight time if they didn't work the holiday (or they're on salary), or time and a half if they're hourly and they work the holiday.
So average work weeks is 40 hours, average 4.3 weeks per month so...172 hours or so.
